Independence Guarantee

Every product review on SnugGym is produced with complete editorial independence. No manufacturer, distributor, retailer, or affiliate network can influence our evaluation process, scores, or recommendation badges.

What Independence Means

Financial Independence

SnugGym earns revenue through the Amazon Associates affiliate program. This revenue:

• Comes from qualifying purchases made after clicking our links
• Costs readers nothing extra (Amazon pays the commission, not the buyer)
• Does not influence which products we review or how we score them
• Is a byproduct of useful content, not its purpose

How Products Are Obtained

Research-Backed Analysis (No Free Products)

SnugGym operates as a research-backed editorial analysis site. We do not request or accept free products from manufacturers, distributors, or retailers. All evaluations are conducted using:

1. Published manufacturer specifications from product manuals, websites, and data sheets
2. Independent test data where available (Consumer Reports, certified acoustic testing)
3. Aggregated user feedback patterns from verified purchasers
4. Comparative analysis against competing products in the same category

Why We Don’t Accept Free Products

Accepting free products creates a psychological obligation that can bias evaluation, even when unintentional. By purchasing our own research materials or relying entirely on publicly available data, we eliminate this conflict of interest.

Products We Physically Purchase

Occasionally, the SnugGym team purchases products for photography, dimensional verification, or hands-on familiarization. When we do:

• The purchase is made through normal retail channels (not provided by the manufacturer)
• The product is selected based on editorial needs, not manufacturer offering
• Any hands-on observations are labeled as such and kept separate from specification-based analysis
• The purchase expense is budgeted independently of affiliate revenue timing

Manufacturer Relationship Boundaries

What We Do Not Do

• No sponsored reviews — We do not publish reviews paid for or sponsored by manufacturers
• No pre-publication review — Manufacturers do not see reviews before publication
• No quote approval — We do not seek or accept manufacturer approval for direct quotes or paraphrases
• No advertising-editorial bundling — Advertising relationships, if any, are separate from editorial decisions
• No affiliate program preference — Products without affiliate programs receive equal analytical rigor

Manufacturer Communications

Manufacturers may contact SnugGym to:

• Point out factual errors in published content (we verify and correct if confirmed)
• Notify us of product updates, recalls, or discontinuations (we update content accordingly)
• Request product inclusion for analysis (requests are evaluated against our selection criteria)

Manufacturers may NOT:

• Request score changes or badge assignments
• Request removal of negative content
• Offer payment for favorable coverage
• Demand pre-publication review rights

Update Cadence

Product reviews are refreshed on a defined schedule to maintain accuracy:

Unscheduled Updates

A review receives an immediate update when:

• A product is recalled by the manufacturer or CPSC
• A significant specification change is announced
• A widespread defect pattern emerges in user reports
• The product is discontinued and replaced by a new model
• A reader-reported error is verified (see Corrections Policy)

When Reviews Are Removed

Product reviews are removed from SnugGym only in the following circumstances:

Permanent Removal

• Product discontinuation with no direct replacement — the review is archived and removed from navigation
• Safety recall — reviews of recalled products are removed until the safety issue is resolved
• Fraud or counterfeit concerns — if a product is found to be counterfeit or fraudulent, all related content is removed pending investigation
• Legal requirements — if required by applicable law or valid legal process

Archival (Not Full Removal)

• Superseded by newer model — the original review is kept live but marked as referring to a previous generation, with a link to the updated model review
• Category consolidation — if a product is moved to a different category, the review URL redirects to the new location

What We Do NOT Remove

• Reviews because manufacturers request it
• Reviews because of affiliate program changes
• Reviews because a product receives negative user feedback
• Negative content within a review at manufacturer request

Review Content Standards

Required Elements

Every product review must include:

• Specification verification against at least two independent sources
• 8-criteria scoring with criterion-by-criterion breakdown
• Limitations disclosure — what we don’t know or couldn’t verify
• Comparison context — how the product compares to 2-3 key alternatives
• Affiliate disclosure — that SnugGym earns from qualifying purchases
• Date stamp — when the review was published and last updated

Prohibited Content

• Fabricated hands-on testing claims
• Fake aggregate ratings or review counts
• Manufacturer marketing copy presented as original analysis
• Unsubstantiated superlatives (“the best,” “the quietest” without qualification)
• Price guarantees or stock availability guarantees
