What Is Metabolic Conditioning (MetCon)?

Metabolic conditioning refers to structured exercise protocols that target specific energy systems to improve the body’s ability to store and deliver energy for muscular work. Workout 1: ATP-PC Power Development

This session targets the phosphagen system through maximal-effort intervals. The long rest periods are non-negotiable—insufficient recovery prevents ATP resynthesis and turns this into a different (and less effective) workout.

Pacing strategy: Choose rep targets that allow completion with 15-20 seconds rest remaining in each minute. If you’re finishing with less than 10 seconds rest, reduce reps by 2 on subsequent rounds.
